ECOFHAIR
a subsidiary of Lyon-based Serfim, is a company with a mission founded in 2021 to recycle hair collected from professionals in collaboration with the Coiffeurs Justes association, which recovers several tons of cut hair every year. Ecofhair develops innovative solutions such as boat bilge plugs, soil remediation kits, etc., and looks for ways to prevent and limit hydrocarbon pollution in seas, oceans and soils. It recently signed a partnership agreement with Pollustock, a company based in the Alpes-Maritimes specializing in intercepting waste in gutters and downspouts. Together, they are co-developing a hair-based anti-pollution filter capable of capturing invisible pollutants more effectively than conventional absorbent materials.
HKVOR
HKVOR is a green technology that valorizes sheep's hair and wool without using chemicals, thus minimizing the ecological footprint. Committed to a circular economy, HKVOR transforms this under-valued bio-waste into biomimetic hair keratin and a soluble, bio-digestible animal keratin hydrolysate. The keratin produced is destined for manufacturers of finished products in growth markets. The hair is collected by Coiffeurs Justes, guaranteeing quality and traceability, making HKVOR a world first with a hair keratin unique on the market.
SOL-HAIR INSULATION
Sol-Hair insulation is a Swiss start-up, in collaboration with Ecofhair and the French association Coiffeurs Justes, has developed thermal insulation panels from hair waste. The project aims to recover and reuse hair, an abundant and readily available resource, by avoiding its incineration, which generates CO₂ emissions. Hair has excellent thermoregulatory properties, low thermal conductivity (38 mW/m.K), and is rot-proof, making it a sustainable alternative to traditional insulation materials.
